Selected by the Ministry
of Health and Welfare, and other professional organizations … Evaluated to be
“Excellent” by Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service
Inha
University Hospital (Director Seung-rim Park) is developing itself to be a
specialized medical institution for cardio-cerebrovascular diseases. The hospital
was selected to be the cardio-cerebrovascular medical center in the Incheon
area by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in the late November, and in December,
it was selected to be the “excellent hospital for acute stroke and myocardial
infarction” by Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service. With these
good news, the hospital promotes policies to attract cardio-cerebrovascular
patients from abroad, and aims to be the medical institution of the Northeast
Asia.
Recognized for the
Hospital’s Vision and Possibility of Development under “Cardio-cerebrovascular
Diseases.”
Inha University Hospital,
selected to be the cardio-cerebrovascular diseases center in the Incheon area,
receives funding of about six thousand million won for the next five years. Director
Park says, “as we prepare for this business to take off, we understood that the
management of blind spots for cardio-cerebrovascular diseases, the highest
death rate in this country, medical service with too much focus on call
patients and actue treatment, and low awareness of early symptoms of
cardio-cerebrovascular diseases were the problems.”
Park added, “In order to
solve these problems, the hospital established 24-hour waiting system, general
preventive management for cardio-cerebrovascular and early and continuous
treatments. Ultimately the hospital will contribue to the promotion of health
for Incheon residents by affectively connecting the community’s relative
resources.”
Additionally, Inha
University Hospital was selected to be the “excellent hospital for acute stroke
and myocardial infarction” by Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service.
HIRA evaluates 113 medical institutions’ statuses on acute stroke and acute
myocardial infarction and provides incentives to those who are evaluated to be
“excellent.” Inha University Hospital was evaluated to be the top level for
acute stroke high level for acute myocardial infarction. With these
evaluations, Inha University Hospital was verified of its medical quality from
the nation.
Director
Park mentioned, “With the sucessful establishment of cardio-cerebrovascular
diseases center of this area and the satisfactory evaluation result, the
hospital will offer new paradigm for cardio-cerebrovascular disease management
by actively participating in preventing and managing cardio-cerebrovascular
diseases.”
Plans
to Develop Medical Tour Business Model
With
these evaluation results, the hospital is planning to attract
cardio-cerebrovascular patients across the world. The hospital was selected to
be Leading Medical Technology Development Project to attract overseas patients
under “cardio cerebro-vascular disease,” hosted by the Ministry of Health and
Welfare. The hospital is trying to attract overseas patients with Incheon
Medical Tourism Foundation and major medical institutions of the area. Leading
Medical Technoology Development Project is the project that the country
provides marketing and infrastructure to excellent medical technology with
potential in order to prepare for the country’s rapid growth of medical tourism
industry and diversify unequal regional distribution of patients.
As
part of this business, the hospital invited a cardio-cerebrovascular patient
from Russia with the help of Incheon Medical Tourism Foundation, Russian
agency, and various press, and provided treatment fees. The patient chosen for
this project was in a condition that needed heart surgery immediately; if she
delayed the surgery, there was a high chance she would suffer heart attack.
Despite such critical condition, she could not undergo any surgery due to high
cost and backward cardio-cerebrovascular medical technology of Russia. With the
help of Inha University Hospital, she was able to successfully undergo a heart
surgery. She mentioned, “I was touched by such heartwarming medical service
from Inha University Hospital, and I was able to go through the treatments
comfortably with Russian medical coordinator translating and guding me. The
afteraffects was minimal and the recovery fast because there was no need to
open up the chest thanks to excellent medical technology.”
The
hospital strengthened its network with the local medical tourism agency, and
wishes to carry out overseas promotion of its excellent treatment of
cardio-cerebrovascular diseases based on global marketing network. Director
Park emphasized, “Not only will the hospital do its best to prevent and manage
cardio-cerebrovascular diases of the Incheon community, but it will also take
responsibility of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases of the world citizens and
strive to become the global medical institution.”
